i found the ability to buy extra username changes great, and feel it would be good as a feature say a limit of 3 changes a year for standard members and 6 for premiun in addition to the free one each year. i also think it would be good for standard members to be able to buy a ppremium feature for a limited time. eg: buy 30 days of voicemail access online, or 30 days access to a primium game, or 30 days accesss to post on the blog.
what do y'all think.
I think an olive cart line might be cool. this sounds like what you are suggesting.
As a business, it may be an idea to develop packages to have certain thingsgrouped together.
Though on second thought premium is only $25 a year right?
Thirdly, is there enough options in the premium membership to go to the expense of doing packages like that?
Forthly, would it make any sense to have each feature be available as an olive cart thing? My guess is the only way is if the prices were jacked up quite a bit per feature.
Honestly? I dont think anything that you are suggesting would work for a few reasons.
1. its cheap to pay premium membership and get all or nothing.
2. in order to make it worth it, you'd have to charge more for any one feature and I just dont know how many would pay for it.
3. There have to be a lot offered in premium to break it down into any sort of package (some but not all) features.
If the packages options were to be explored, perhaps it could go like this.
Games package: nothing but the games.
Notes package? (someone else come up with a more unique title for that): reading quicknote history, being abel to blog.
Audio package: being able to create your own room in Teamtalk, Zone by Phone, and the longer audio profile.
I wouldnt begin to know how much to charge a month for that, or how much a year of said packages should cost.
I dont know that this option is offered, but another idea may be to charge on a month by month bases for premium access, ware if it isn't paid up the premium goes away .
Perhaps make an auto-recharge an option.

Come on, guys. it's $25 for a whole year. I don't know how you can get much better than that. I do, however, like the ability to have the chance to win these individual features in the raffles. I also like the two year premium membership promotion ideas. Like, maybe $40 for two years of premium, instead of $25 a year for two years, for a total of $50. You'd be saving $10.
As I thought then, it isn't worth the cost to have each feature be a seprit option.
Surpriseing that they haven't started charging more as time goes on. Though its not about a profit I dont think.
they could make more money off selective people if they charged for separate features. a person may only want the games and not all the other features and may be happy to pay for that. also a person could try something before buying a year of it.
i think username payed for changes should be an option though it will make money on top of premium memberships.
i do like the idea of a monthly rolling premium contract as well.
The only thing I question is your desire for three to six name changes per year. Who the hell needs that many name changes? Each time you change your name it gets added to a list in your profile, it's not like you can come back and be a different person. And as for myself, I get sick of trying to figure out who people are.
I like the idea of winning things in the raffle, but I wouldn't be willing to pay for specific items if I didn't already have a premium membership.
well i don't think you'd use all them changes, they were just numbers i picked from thin air to use in my example.
From the Zone's side they'd do better making money. From the users side 25 just isn't that much money to get everything for a year. As a user I like it as is.
But for zone people's, ts not about makeing the money I dont think. If it was tey w could charge a hell of a lot more, in which case doing packages would make sense. But since the intire shabang is so damn cheap as it is, it simply wouldn't make sense at this stage to my way of thinking.
speaking for myself, I don't see enough value tobuy a premium membership but I might pay five bucks for this or that feature. When the number of features exceeds the cost of the premium membership, the smart consumer will naturally gravitate toward it. By allowing the purchasing of name changes, we can try on a name and get one that suits instead of being stuck with one that we don't like any longer.
Here's an idea, don't choose user names you don't like. How hard is that?
Secondly, $25 is not astronomical. Whatever premium feature a person wants to use or uses, think of that feature/s as a thank you for your $25 which goes toward continuing and maintaining the site.
I certainly don't use every premium feature, but I greatly appreciate the features I do use and how the site is run; and I'll pay because I'd like to contribute to the continuation of the site and whatever new features come about.
I agree with the username change thing, I feel it would be a good idea.
As do I. I think it would be great even if we were allowed one name change per year. I changed my name once and it says that I can't do it again. But this was done quite awhile ago, so it's not as if I'm trying to change it every month. Still, if it causes trouble having to change posts etc. so that they contain the new name, it might make sense to charge a small price for it. If not, then perhaps points could be used.
People are strange about things on this site. Changing one's login ID / handle is pretty common all over the net. As is use of the ignore feature and all sorts of other tools people on this site make out to be over the top.
In fact, when Google + made a big deal about real names, it got a lot of storm because the Internet is full of anonymity.
Your ancestors painted themselves completely out of recognition when going on certain missions, people now use a nonidentifiable handle, and change it periodically. Difference?
